Acupuncture therapy:
Value from the ancient East and modern West
At acubalance in Randwick you receive acupuncture treatments based on my qualifications and professional experience in Traditional acupuncture and Western science.
While the acupuncture treatment is informed by Traditional Chinese Medicine, it embraces current knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology as well as collaboration with medical doctors where appropriate.
Acupuncture is a therapeutic modality that you can use on its own or in conjunction with Western Medicine.
What happens during the first visit?
At the beginning of your first treatment we will have a detailed review of your health. I will listen to your issues and ask a wide range of questions for a holistic and individual assessment. Your information is confidential as required by Australian law.
Pulse qualities felt at your wrist, the appearance of the tongue and palpation of acupuncture channels and points give important diagnostic information. Symptoms that may seem unrelated often fit together into a coherent picture according to Traditional Chinese Medicine!
After deciding and explaining your treatment I will ask you if you are happy to proceed. If yes, you will receive your first acupuncture treatment during this session.
What happens in the acupuncture treatment?
Acupuncture treatments involve the insertion of very fine, sterile, single-use needles. Gentle stimulation of acupuncture points is traditionally seen to clear the flow of “Qi” throughout the body and to regulate “Qi transformation” with the result of more balanced physiology and emotional/spiritual wellbeing.
Restoring the dynamic balance is traditionally thought to relieve and prevent a wide range of disorders, and prevention is in my opinion the best medicine. Acupuncture points and channels may also be stimulated by other methods, for example acupressure, massage or the application of heat.
Adressing the whole picture gets better results
Treatments do not just target the symptoms but the underlying condition as well. People with similar health issues may receive very different acupuncture treatments depending on their constitution and the specific nature of the illness. As your condition changes and improves with treatment, the treatment approach will adapt until the desired health outcome is achieved.
